Bernie Ebbers and The Tempations Empty
PostSubject: Bernie Ebbers and The Tempations   Bernie Ebbers and The Tempations EmptyTue Sep 20, 2011 1:10 pm

Should you don抰 give a heck regarding the man with the Holy book in his hand.... --Mack Rice
No. Not those temptations.
I mean The Temptations. And I am not talking about whoever is touring within the name today. I am speaking about Melvin Franklin, Otis Williams, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendrick as well as David Ruffin. The true Temptations.
Having all, aside from Otis Williams, moved in....
I wonder if Bernie Ebbers, frowning as well as dour, white beard along with cheap, stained raincoat, pushing his way after dark TV cameras on your Manhattan sidewalk; I wonder if Bernie maybe simply for a split second observed a street radio, that great bass line holding up the introduction so well that the tune immediately gets ingrained as part of your soul so deeply that you don抰 even know the simplest way it got there; I wonder if Bernie heard exactly the same song I did while i learned he抎 been convicted and pronounced guilty about all counts; I wonder if Bernie heard:

So that as we walked through that throng, his lawyers paying off a path, I wonder if Bernie looked up into the narrow band of New york city Sky; and saw all six original smiling Temptations on the floating Motown stage that hovered just in front and above Bernie Ebbers go, an unseen orchestra playing as the Temptations came alive previously mentioned the packed and vibrating New york city street. Bernie watched them dance:
And when it抯 cold outside. I got the month of May. I suppose you sayWhat can make me feel using this method?
As Bernie looked way up, not really sure precisely what he was seeing as well as why he was seeing it, he thought: 揘othing may surprise me now. I didn抰 now it might all turn out using this method. But nothing, nothing can surprise me now.

Bernie didn抰 really perhaps hear the shouts from the reporters and they almost all bounced into some unseen and unknown compartment inside his brain. A compartment he kept locked. Forgetting sometime ago where he had put the golden key. But he could see the Temptations sing and he marveled in the unity in their belly dancing moves.
I got so much honeyThe bees envy meI acquired a sweeter songThen the birds inside treesI guess you sayWhat can make me feel this process....
He watched the dancing spin like flowing a silk filled duvet. He was entranced that there is such unity. It was as if the dance and the tune additionally, the words were the same. Coursing like blood through some kind of larger life force, some kind of life force in the way those five men smiled and moved that floating stage in which hovered just above Bernie抯 brand of sight. He heard along with watched them sing:
My personal girl, My girl, My personal girlTalking bout my girl!
And as we was jarred right back seat of a major black car, the 5 men whom sang and danced with a unity of some kind of spirit Bernie had solely never known before, the 5 men vanished---Bernie closed his eyes and over heard only the sound from the bass梩he lines 揗y girl? fading and then all the bass rising again to your newer, even more highly effective line.
The newer bass line rose right into a groove that was also deeper, not loud---but deep. it was as whenever this single bass line packed the electricity of a locomotive, the brutal black metal, coal fueled fire box locomotive similar to the one that ran in between Winona Mississippi where Roebuck Staples was given birth to in 1915; and Clinton Mississippi where within the late 1990抯 most almost everyone worked for Bernie; the locomotive bass line, which just shook the earth---not from its noise---but from the country's simple power. And then the voice of old Is no longer secure Staples asking Bernie:
If you disrespect every body that you run in toHow on the planet do you think anybody抯 s抪ose to be able to respect you?
Bernie opened his eyes and also the back seat of the modern York town car was gone.
He was in the back yard of a well used grey stone on a south side of Chicago, il. It was summer, plenty of smiling. And on those people two tables, heaping platters associated with fried chicken, ribs, as well as sausage, burgers and green veggies. Sweaty pitchers of lemonade. Kids shouting which same song playing:
Should you don抰 give a heck regarding the man with the Bible in his handJust move out the way and allow the gentleman do his problem.
Bernie shook his head, closed and then popped his eyes.
He could do that. He was good with new crowds. He could always sell. Always had. Always would.
That song kept coming:
You the type of gentleman who want anything his wayTake the linen off your face boyIt抯 a brand new day. Respect yourself....
Bernie approached the good old man who appeared to be at the center coming from all this. 揗avis? the gentleman was shouting, 揅leotha, Yvone, arrive over here now!? --he had been smiling, motioning over three women who Bernie guessed to become his daughters.
But as Bernie began to walk towards the gentleman everybody was calling Pops, Bernie realized that nobody could see him.
He reached out to pat a little, running child抯 head and also the child didn抰 even look up! He said, 揋ood afternoon sir,? to a man taking in a cold beer plus the man looked right by him!
Bernie tapped Mavis Staples about the shoulder where she stood listening to her father speak as well as Mavis didn抰 even convert!
Bernie Ebbers, totally alone.
He smelled the burgers about the grill. He could begin to see the smiling, laughing people in that which was a legendary Chicago back yard picnic at the Staples, he or she could hear that melody (Respect yourself! Respect yourself! )
He was absolutely alone. No one knew he was there.
Bernie Ebbers felt himself began to break. He heard your bass line---
Respect yourselfRespect yourself
Bernie Ebbers thought he had known every kind of pain there were to know. He thought he抎 faced the worst type of. He thought, none of the was really my flaw.
But in that yard on the south end of Chicago: realizing that, no one could find out him. That he got no idea where they was. No idea ways to get home to Mississippi. Absolutely no notion of what accomplish next.
Bernie Ebbers held hearing the song (Respect on your own. Respect yourself) and they felt himself breaking right into a shame that was brand new. A shame that came from no one having the ability to see him, No one particular even knowing he was first there. Bernie Ebbers knew he would break and he would not even really know for what reason.
He reached out his hands in shame, in terror and in total aloneness and he began to cry.
And just when he did:
Pops Staples handed him a heaping denture of chicken and hamburgers, beans and greens, looked over him with deep depressing eyes and said,
